Panopto Partners with Zoom to Create a Seamless Workflow Between Video Meetings and Video Content Management

Entrepreneurs / 22nd August 2017

Panopto, the leader in enterprise video platforms, today announced a strategic integration with Zoom, the leading enterprise video communications provider. The integration brings together the companies’ best-in-class technologies, resulting in a seamless end user experience that blurs the lines between video meetings and video content management.

In recent years, live and on-demand video have become critical to university instruction and business communication. As video conferencing becomes as prevalent as email, organizations increasingly need a secure repository to store and share their recordings. Recognizing this market demand, Zoom and Panopto engineering teams worked in close collaboration to deliver an integrated, cloud-first solution for publishing and managing Zoom recordings.

The solution automatically uploads native Zoom recordings to Panopto’s video content management system. Once uploaded, the recordings are indexed for inside-video search, enabling viewers to search on any spoken word or shared text from within the meeting, such as presentations or desktop applications. Recordings are also encoded for optimal playback on any device.

“Zoom and Panopto have created a deep integration for faculty and staff,” said Mark Felix, Director, Instructional Support at the University of Arizona Office of Instruction and Assessment. “With Zoom, instructors can hold live, interactive classes for distance and online learning. And with Panopto’s video content management system, students will have access to a searchable, on-demand recording.”

As the fastest-growing vendors in their respective markets, Zoom and Panopto see the integration as a natural step to helping customers maximize the value of their video investments.

“Video conferencing and video content management are both having a transformative effect on how we exchange ideas and expertise,” said Eric Burns, co-founder and CEO of Panopto. “Through our integration with Zoom, we’re taking the next logical step, bringing these technologies together so that the ideas and insights shared in online meetings are instantly accessible from anywhere, on any device.”

“As the leader in cloud video communications, Zoom knows the importance of live and on-demand video, particularly in enterprise corporations and higher education. As such, we want to provide our customers with the best experience in storing, managing, and sharing their Zoom recordings. Panopto provides one of the best-in-class services in this area, so it was an easy choice to work with them in this integration and an ongoing effort to provide robust video content management to our customers,” said Eric S. Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom.
