The Executive MBA at Oakland is a premier graduate business program designed exclusively for experienced professionals interested in further developing their leadership skills and advancing their business knowledge in a concentrated format. Offered in a cohort structure, the fully inclusive 21-month program meets Friday afternoons and Saturdays on alternate weekends to support the lifestyle of busy professionals. Students in Oakland’s Executive MBA program are often mid-career executives preparing for senior management or senior executives looking to enhance their skills.

The program is designed for professionals with a variety of specialized backgrounds, including technical, engineering and clinical. Students emerge from the Executive MBA program with a broader perspective of business and the tools to increase their professional impact.

The Business School at Oakland University also offers a part-time MBA program as well as a Master of Accounting and a Master of Science in Information Technology Management.

Programme Profile

Oakland University’s Executive MBA program uses hands-on learning methods with a focus on integrative thinking, include analysis of real business cases, working in learning teams and participating in business simulations. Special courses created around business issues, execution of strategies, and delivery methods meet the unique needs of the participants.

An academically rigorous program, the Executive MBA is progressive, with courses scheduled sequentially to provide balance between personal, professional, and educational priorities. Classes meet on late Friday afternoons and Saturdays on alternate weekends during the regular academic year. 

Oakland Executive MBA students can choose to pursue concentrations that focus on distinctive knowledge: Healthcare Leadership and Information Systems Leadership.

Duration

The Executive MBA program is a fully inclusive 21-month program that meets Friday afternoons and Saturdays on alternate weekends and includes a two month summer break.

Entry Requirements

Admission to the Executive Master of Business Administration program at Oakland University is selective and depends on several elements, including scholarship, achievements, experience and the ability to communicate effectively. The required application components include:

  • Application for Admission from OUU Graduate Study
  • Supplemental SBA-EMBA application form and/or resume
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Two professional recommendations
  • Official GMAT scores (for those not holding a graduate degree)
  • Interview with program faculty directory or program coordinator
  • A minimum of seven years work experience
  • An undergraduate degree in any discipline
  • International students who have not earned a baccalaureate degree from a U.S. college or university, or at least 24 credits from a U.S school, will have additional application requirements: A transcript evaluation (for transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States) and TOEFL Exam Scores (for non-native English speakers unless they have a baccalaureate degree from a U.S. college or university or at least 24 credits from a U.S. school).

Offered in a cohort structure, students meet Friday afternoons and Saturdays on alternate weekends on Oakland University’s campus in Rochester, Michigan (Oakland County), USA.

Programme Cost

Cost for the Executive MBA program for Fall 2016 is $41,500 plus a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. The deposit is due when accepting admission. Five tuition payments of $8,300 are due at the beginning of each term. This covers course registrations, textbooks, electronic resources, materials, required special events/workshops, and meals.

Oakland University’s School of Business Administration is one of 560 business schools in the world to hold AACSB-International accreditation.

Application Deadlines and Start Dates

All application materials for the Executive MBA must be received by July 31 for fall admission. This program admits only in the fall term of each year.
