Entrepreneurs / 6th December 2017

Alex Rothman, a board member of SMS Assist, an end-to-end solution for property management, announced today that he has departed from his role as SMS Assist’s chief product officer and will launch Theron Technology Solutions, LLC. Theron Technology Solutions will provide end-to-end strategy and technology expertise to identify, interpret and implement efficiencies that propel business forward. He will remain an SMS Assist board member and stakeholder.

At Theron Technology Solutions, Rothman will serve as founder and CEO, employing his nearly decade-long experience at SMS Assist leading transformative, scalable and data-driven front- and back-end enterprise solutions to optimize the business. His leadership of the SMS Assist development team earned Rothman the 2017 Digital Edge 50 Award, which recognizes achievement in digital initiatives driving customer engagement, higher sales conversions and new products, as well as revenue and profit growth. In addition, he brings expertise in helping grow SMS Assist into a leading cloud-based property management platform, contributing to its recognition the past two years as one of Forbes World’s Best 100 Cloud Companies, ranked No. 33 this year, and a Deloitte Technology Fast 500 recipient for three consecutive years.

“Alex brings a unique combination of technical expertise and product development as well as a grasp of the necessary agility in scaling a high-growth company,” said Tao Huang, former Morningstar COO/CTO, a top global provider of investment research and an SMS Assist board member since 2011. “He is solutions-oriented, an innovative leader and was pivotal in SMS Assist’s growth.”

Theron Technology Solutions: business for accelerating businesses
While conventional consultants focus on transactional agreements and pre-selected preferred vendors, Theron Technology Solutions will partner with high-growth companies to identify pain points and opportunities, as well as develop and maintain purpose-built tools to address each businesses’ distinct needs.

“The challenge for many high-growth businesses is that they require enterprise technology to enable expansion, but out-of-box solutions often don’t meet their distinct needs,” said Peter Lehman, co-founder and partner of Granite Creek Capital Partners, L.L.C. and stakeholder in SMS Assist since 2010. “Alex’s experience in creating enterprise solutions to support SMS Assist customers will deliver value to high-growth clients across new sectors.”

Theron Technology Solutions will support high-growth U.S. companies in the commercial and technology sectors in addition to serving the portfolio companies of private equity firms. With the capability to build from scratch or bolt-on to existing infrastructure, Theron Technology Solutions will offer a flexible, platform-agnostic approach to creating distinct CRM, CMS and DAM solutions, as well as capabilities for website and mobile app development.

“I’m extremely proud of the achievements of SMS Assist, including the development of tools that provide cost, quality and control for its customers,” said Rothman. “SMS Assist is well poised to continue its trajectory as a top company in its market.”

Theron Technology Solutions expects to begin supporting clients from its Chicago headquarters in early 2018.
