Working Mothers Up To 40% More Stressed

Career Climbers / 29th January 2019

Research released this week shows that working mothers are 18% more stressed than other people, with this figure rising to 40% for those with two children.

Mother and co-founder of Cuckooz Nest, a London based, flexible workspace with an integrated creche, Charlie Rosier, commented on the latest findings.

Charlie Rosier, mother and co-founder of Cuckooz Nest, commented:

“We know that striking a positive work-life balance is particularly challenging for working mums and that burnout is a huge risk factor.

We’re seeing businesses investing heavily in supporting their staff in achieving a more balanced lifestyle and in turn creating a happier and more productive workforce. For some reason though, this particular segment of the workforce and the contributing factors to their stress levels seem to be overlooked.

Yes, flexible working can help and is imperative, but businesses should be digging deeper and looking at how they can support working parents, for example through subsidised childcare. The cost of retaining this talent through better support far outweighs that of losing them.”
